How to Rename Invalid Characters while Importing Files to SharePoint Using Dockit?

Applies to: DocKIT for SharePoint 10.x

Answer

In the recent Dockit v10.x, we have enhanced the Dockit Template Manager wizard with new UI, which hopefully will give the better look for the end user.

Up to the previous version of Dockit for SharePoint v9.x, the escape sequence (backslash) should be prefixed for the reserved characters ~ # % & [ ] \ ^ $ . | ? * + ( ) { } to treat them as normal characters. We have redesigned the Replace Illegal Characters template in the new version Dockit v10.x. By default, the escape sequence (backslash) has been added for the reserved characters ~ # % & [ ] \ ^ $ . | ? * + ( ) { } so to avoid additional work for the user while creating/editing the template.
Please perform the following steps to use Replace Illegal Characters feature available in Dockit to rename invalid characters in SharePoint:

1.Open DocKIT Template Manager Dialog by clicking Mapping Templates option in Tools menu.

2.Select File share migration tab in the Dockit Template Manager wizard.

3.Click Replace Illegal Characters template from the list of available templates group.

4.Once you have created the renaming rule template as stated above, you can use this newly created renaming template under File Renaming Rule in the Items to import step of Dockit task wizard (as shown below).
