What resources does ARKSP report?

ARKSP reports about the following resources from a Microsoft Office SharePoint and Windows SharePoint Services: Virtual Servers, Portal sites, Site Collections, Webs, Areas and Lists.

Can you explain ARKSP license model?

ARKSP license model is based on the number of computers on which you will install ARKSP. Server License means per Front-end Web Server / Windows SharePoint Services installed server. Please note that ARKSP requires Windows Server 2003 running SharePoint Portal Server 2003 / Windows SharePoint Services for it to run.

Can I export my reports in ARKSP?

Yes. You may export your reports to MDB/HTML/CSV/XML file formats.

What user credentials does ARKSP use to connect to a SharePoint Portal?

By default, ARKSP uses the currently logged on user context to connect to a SharePoint server. The currently-logged-on-user should be Member of Administrator's group (highly recommended) to access all resources in SharePoint.

What permissions or privileges are required to view information about SharePoint on the server?

To view information about a SharePoint, the currently logged on user must:

be a valid domain user to view basic information

be a member in the Administrators group of the target server to view privileges, services and system resources

read permissions in the SQL Server databases to read the virtual server and portal site details

should be the member of SPS_WPG group for reading Single Sign-on details

How do I refresh the data for the displayed report?

ARKSP stores the data in the local application database, once it gathers the data from SharePoint for the first time. ARKSP displays data from the local data store until the data is refreshed. To “Refresh” data, clickRefresh’ from the menu/toolbar

Can I connect remote SharePoint Portal Server using ARKSP?

No. ARKSP only connects to local SharePoint, where ARKSP is installed. The local machine should be running Windows Server 2003 with SharePoint Portal Server 2003 or Windows SharePoint Services, for ARKSP to function properly.

Does ARKSP support Windows SharePoint Services?

Yes. ARKSP supports both Windows SharePoint Services and Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003.

Does ARKSP support Web Storage System Document Library (WSSDL) / SharePoint Portal Server 2001 (Web Storage System)?

No. ARKSP only supports Microsoft Office SharePoint Portal Server 2003 and Windows SharePoint Services v2.0.

What value does the 'Last Modified' field in the Summary report under Site report category signify?

The 'Last Modified' column shows the date on which the site was last modified. The modification to the site includes only the modification to any of the items in the site.

How does ARKSP calculate 'Web Size' for a Portal Site?

The "Web Size (in MB)" under the Summary tab in the Site Report indicates actual disk usage information of the current site and all its sub-sites. ARKSP calculates the exact size in terms of bytes. ARKSP includes files in 'Forms' folder (visible only in 'Explorer View') present in the library, system folders & files, site web pages, site templates, web parts and user items in each list when calculating the total file size.

How does ARKSP calculate 'List Size' for a List?

The "List Size (in MB)" under the Summary tab in the List Report indicates actual disk usage information of the current library. ARKSP calculates the exact size in terms of bytes. ARKSP includes files in 'Forms' folder (visible only in 'Explorer View') present in the library, system folders & files, templates and user items in that library when calculating the total file size.

I am unable to view the 'Page Hits' and 'Site Visitors' in the Site or Site/Area report.

To view 'Page Hits' and 'Site Visitors' reports, enable the "Processing Settings" and "Logging Settings" options in Configure Usage Analysis Processing in the SharePoint Central Administration.

I am unable to view the 'Page Visits' information in the 'Virtual Server' report.

To view 'Page Visits' information, enable the "Enable Logging" option in the desired virtual server in IIS.

Can I create a custom view for a report in ARKSP?

Yes. ARKSP allows you to select the desired fields available in rows & columns in the 'Filter' tool and display the selected fields in the report.

Can I print and export reports?

Yes. ARKSP allows you to preview the report, set print options and finally print the reports in the desired layout. You may also export the report data and save it in HTML, Comma Separated Value (CSV), Extensible Markup Language (XML) or MS-Access MDB format.

Yes. ARKSP Custom Reports Manager tool allows you to select the desired reports and its corresponding fields based on a particular report category and save the report template for re-use.

Using the Power Reports tool, you can schedule reports to run at scheduled intervals. Refer to Power Reports section in ARKSP Help for more information.

Yes, ARKSP allows you to view the history information for a task created using Power Reports. To view, go to Power Report->Task History. You can view the task run times, reports and URLs configured in the task and exported files in the history.

Can I publish ARKSP reports to a SharePoint document library?

You can use the Publish feature available in ARKSP to publish your reports to a SharePoint document library in the following format: HTML, XML, CSV, MDB. Please ensure the user context (running ARKSP) has sufficient permissions to write content to the specified document library

The application error log file "ARKSPErrorLog.txt" is gradually increasing in size. Can I delete it?

Yes, you may manually delete this error log file when ARKSP is not running. ARKSP generates an error log file in the application path "C:\Program Files\ARKSP\Log". The error log file tends to increase in size over a period of time especially if the application meets with frequent error conditions. The application does an "append" to the error log each time it runs. This is required for diagnostic purposes during trouble shooting. You may delete the error log file periodically.
