What are
meant by system columns and custom columns? |
|
System columns are those columns
that are created by SharePoint by default when a document / picture library is
created (except 'Title' in Document Library). These are read-only fields. They
are internally managed by SharePoint.
Custom columns are those columns
that are created by a SharePoint user. Columns that are created by using 'Add a
new column' in 'Customize' page will typically be classified as custom
columns.

13. |
Where are
the versions saved when I export files to the file system location?
|
|
When exporting files to a File
System with version history, XPlica creates a sub-folder with name <version
folder name><version number> under each respective folder and exports
version of files into them. Where <version folder name> will be the folder
name specified by the user in 'Version Folder Name' text-box of 'Select file
versions' dialog and <version number> will be the actual version number of
the version file that is being exported.
For example: If version folder
name specified by the user is 'Version' and the actual version number
of file being exported is 10, then a folder with name 'Version10' will be
created in the destination folder and 10th version of the file will be
exported to this version sub-folder. The latest version of a file will be
exported to the respective version folder depending on its version number.

Can I view
only the file list of a library and their associated column values?
|
|

a task that exports only the metadata column values. When you run such a task,
XPlica generates a file (CSV / XLS / MDB based on user selection) that will
contain the list of files and their associated column values. |

What will
happen to the version history of a file exported to a destination
library? |
|
The version history of a file will be
retained based on the option selected in 'Files' section of 'Export Settings'
dialog.
If 'Overwrite file' option is
selected, then the existing destination file (including versions) will be
deleted from SharePoint and the source file (including versions depending on
user selection) will be exported. If 'Create as new version' option is selected,
the latest version or the version history of the source file will be added to
the destination library.
